EDS Communications Managers, Dustin and Mary Grace (MG), participated last week in the Episcopal Communicators Conference in San Diego. The event was a time of intense preparation and work for both of them, but also abundant joy with good colleagues turned friends.
Highlights of the event were that Dustin was reelected to the board and MG was newly elected (board pictured above).

Episcopal Divinity School sponsored the Polly Bond Awards for the second time this year. The awards celebrate excellence in church communications and are often a major highlight of the week. This year’s theme was “Under the EC” - hence the nautical outfits! Dustin delivered remarks on behalf of EDS and MG ran the Polly Bond show as Chair of the awards committee.
MG received two awards for her work in 2025 for EDS:
Award of Excellence (1st place): For her article, “A Martyr for Justice, A Call to Action: How the Spirit of Jonathan Myrick Daniels ’66 Continues to Call us to Activism.”
Award of Merit (2nd place): For EDS’s monthly newsletters.
- Before the conference began, Dustin and MG travelled to Tijuana, Mexico, for an afternoon workshop on communications across cultures. They had the opportunity to experience the ministry of Comunidad de Luz, which is run by the The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego.

The director of the ministry is also the doppelgänger of EDS President and Dean Lydia Kelsey Bucklin!
This annual event is packed with love for Dustin and MG! This was their fifth conference together and continue to share in the professional development, community building, and sheer joy this community has to offer!
