Keep Fighting, Keep Dancing

I am a pastor of a queer (Metropolitan Community) church in Florida, a place that is very challenging for immigrants, LGBTQ people, and others. In Florida, we have been fighting the right-wing takeover of school boards, and even making some progress trying to protect the right to read, the displaying of a Pride flag, and drag queens.

In a recent article for Religion News Service, Shane Claiborne writes that we are now openly experiencing the “collision of two Christianities.” Today, Christians have vastly different interpretations of what following Jesus means, and the lives of so many now depend on which Christianity we decide to embrace.

People in our country—including many Christians—have very little understanding of what the federal government does: from physical infrastructure and financial systems to medical care, national security, and efforts to build peace in the world.
