The Mission Institute is a collaborative endeavor to equip lay people and clergy in Eastern Massachusetts for transformational ministry in an era of unprecedented change. Under the leadership of the Episcopal City Mission (ECM), Episcopal Divinity School (EDS), and the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts (EDOM), the Mission Institute is a collective response to God’s call for justice, reconciliation and wholeness in the communities of Eastern Massachusetts, and beyond. Out of religious conviction and a desire for social and economic justice, The Mission Institute must challenge and equip people in every station of life to be about the work of transformation.
The Mission Institute will provide contextual training in practical areas such as congregational development, stewardship, justice work and spiritual formation to at least six “mission hubs” across the diocese—from the North Shore to Greater Boston and Metro-West, from the South Coast and Cape and Islands to the Merrimack Valley. It is envisioned that leadership, outreach and program resources located in hub congregations will draw collaboration among and return benefits to neighboring congregations and deaneries.
